Pakistan, Turkmenistan agree to enhance economic ties

Pakistan and Turkmenistan have agreed to further enhance economic relations through joint ventures in agriculture, textile, livestock and IT sector.

The agreement was reached at the inaugural session of Pakistan-Turkmenistan Bilateral Political Consultations in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The session was attended by Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

The two sides focused on measures for enhanced connectivity including air and land linkages to promote trade, travel, tourism and people-to-people contacts.

They also acknowledged importance of early implementation of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline Project.

Both sides reviewed implementation of decisions of Joint Governmental Commission held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on 17-18 August last year.
