Explosion near police check post in Chaman

PESHAWAR – At least three people, including two policemen, were injured in an explosion in Chaman, a city in Balochistan, on Wednesday.

As per the details, unknown assailants hurled the hand grenade at a vehicle parked near Edhi check post that left three people injured.

It is suspected that attackers wanted to target the police officials in the attack. After the blast, security forces and rescue officials reached the spot and shifted injured to a nearby hospital.

On Jan 9, a strong explosion near rocked the Balochistan capital, killing at least seven people including five police personnel and injuring dozens others.

The blast took place near a police truck parked close to GPO Chowk on Quetta’s Zarghoon Road, located in the city’s high-security Red Zone, around 300 metres from the provincial assembly building. The road also leads to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

On Jan 1, eight people, including security forces, were injured after two explosions in Chaman. The blasts took place on Mall Road in the city, which is situated just south of the Wesh-Chaman border crossing with the neighbouring Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

The first blast took place after explosive material concealed under a heap of gravel exploded, while the other explosion occurred when people gathered around the site.
