Pakistan, Turkey repose confidence in multilateralism for addressing global challenges

Pakistan and Turkey have reaffirmed their faith in the United Nations and multi-lateralism as the best mechanisms for addressing the challenges faced by the international community.

The determination was expressed at the second round of Pakistan-Turkey consultations on United Nations related matters held in Islamabad.

The Turkish delegation was led by Ambassador Hasan Ulusoy while Pakistan side headed by Director General (UN), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Asim Iftikhar Ahmad.

The two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues including UN Security Council reforms, human rights, refugees, and cooperation in the context of Sustainable Development Goals.

They also discussed the security issues, counter-terrorism, combating Islamphobia and candidatures in international organizations.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over excellent bilateral relations and identical views guided by the political leadership, and close collaboration on a host of issues at the United Nations and other multilateral fora.
