WhatsApp to launch yet another interesting feature for users across the World

WhatsApp users have been yearning for an audio and video call feature on the desktop app since it was announced. Currently, WhatsApp users can only use the platform to share and receive messages and media.

However, this is going to change soon. According to WABetainfo’s recent finds, both audio and video call features are coming to the desktop app. For now, the feature has been made available to a limited number of beta users only.

The beta users who have received the update will be able to see the respective buttons in the chat header, which is right next to the search icon. For now, the users will not be able to use the feature if their Smartphones link are not connected to Wi-Fi, even though any audio or video calls will be routed via their computer.

We are unsure whether the desktop app will support third-party microphones or cameras. However, hopefully, it will when the update rolls out to the stable builds.

WhatsApp has been planning to make this feature available on WhatsApp PC for a while now. The company even planned on launching a standalone application for the service, which means users will not have to pair their Smartphone link with the app or the browser. We don’t have any more info on the standalone app, so take it with a grain of salt.
