Lahore High Court gives important directions to NAB on cases against Chaudhry Brothers

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Thursday ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to complete investigation against Chaudhry brothers pertaining to assets beyond means within four weeks.

The LHC conducted hearing on Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s petition challenging the NAB chairman’s authority.

NAB Lahore DG Shahzad Saleem told the court that the case against Chaudhry brothers regarding illegal appointments has been closed but the assets beyond means case is still pending. He said the investigation will be completed within six months.

Justice Sadaqat Ali remarked that how the anti-corruption watchdog can start investigation against someone who has already declared their assets. The court then ordered the anti-graft body to complete investigation of Chaudhrys’ assets within four weeks.
