Senior Indian Congress leader sentenced to life over inciting crowds to kill Sikhs in 1984

NEW DELHI - In Indian, the Delhi High Court has sentenced a senior Congress party politician,Sajjan Kumar to jail for life after he was convicted for inciting crowds to kill Sikhs during anti-Sikh riots in1984.

The court found Sajjan Kumar guilty of criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity and acts against communal harmony.

More than 3,000 Sikhs had died in the riots in 1984 that followed the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
