NAB references against Nawaz Sharif enter final stage

ISLAMABAD – Al Azizya and Flagship References against Nawaz Sharif enter the final stage.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawja Haris on Monday completed final arguments in Flagship reference case.

Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik resumed the hearing of Flagship reference as Nawaz Sharif appeared before court. The former Premier’s lawyer Khawaja Haris said that the documents submitted by the prosecution pertaining to Capital FZE are fake. He argued that the documents showed that Nawaz was employed at the company.

Haris also mentioned that Nawaz has nothing to do with transactions of Hasan Nawaz’s companies. He also argued that the documents on which the JIT, formed to probe Nawaz’s assets in Panama case, depended didn’t even mention Nawaz’s name.

Khawaja Haris pointed out that no bank documents were presented regarding Nawaz’s income. “Does the income matter hold any importance after the verdict of Supreme Court?,” Judge Arshad Malik asked. Haris said that the screenshots of the documents pertaining to Nawaz’s income were not verified.

However, Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer completed its final arguments and the judge clarified that after completion of arguments, the lawyer would be given time for the answers.

Meanwhile, the NAB will start giving its concluding arguments from Tuesday onwards. Judge directed Haris to present all the documents and give statement on submitted proofs.
