KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has reportedly started lobbying for keeping the slot of Chairman as Imran Khan was elected as the Prime Minister.
Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have shown all out support to Mr Najam Sethi to remain the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
After Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as single largest party in the elections, the reports about Sethi’s removal as PCB chairman are roaming all around.
According to the Daily Express, the PSL franchises owners’ are on one page to support Mr Chairman and want him to continue as the head of the PCB.
According to the sources, one franchise owner have asked Sethi to not worry as he has some good links within the ruling party so he will advise them to not disturb the current setup of the PCB as it is working smoothly having some great achievements to their name.
The sources also confirmed that the one PSL official who was reported to be interested for the PCB’s Chairmanship has assured Mr Sethi that he was not interested for this position and will support him throughout.
The sources further stated that Najam Sethi wants the PSL franchises to support him publically to make his position strong but it seems like the franchises are reluctant to make any quick statement in this regard as they are worried that if Sethi gets removed from his role then the next governing body will consider them as the supporters of Najam Sethi.
