ECP issues notice to Senator for concealing foreign assets

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued notice to Senator Liaqat Ali Khan and sought reply from him till September 6, on petition seeking his disqualification under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, for concealing his foreign assets in the nomination papers.
A five member bench of the ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice Retired Sardar Raza Muhammad Khan resumed hearing of the petition filed by Bushra Gohar, Central Vice President of Awami National Party against Senator Liaqat Ali Khan.
During the course of hearing, Bushra Gohar apprised the bench that Senator Liaqat Ali did not mention about his foreign assets in the nomination papers.
She argued that Senator Liaqat registered his company, Ambassadors Overseas Limited in England in 1998 but did not disclose it.
Senator Liaqat mentioned in his nomination papers that he did not possess any assets abroad.
She prayed to ECP's bench to disqualify him as he concealed the facts.
