Asma Jehangir lashes out at Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Renowned Lawyer and former President Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jehangir on Wednesday claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chief Imran Khan is also surrounded by people plagued with corruption charges.
"Is the province where PTI rules, is free of corruption. Do people not know about scandals of the KPK government. Do they not know how many scandals surfaced and how many were pushed under the carpet," she said in a private news channel program.
Asma who is also considered an important figure of our civil society had questioned why she should join a movement which is not led by clean people.
"When you (Imran) are also surrounded by corrupt people, why I should come out of my house to join your movement. People cannot be befooled to join such a struggle whose leaders are also blemished with the charges of corruption," Asma stated.
She said if any neat and clean person might have started a movement, people had fully supported him. But, in this case Imran Khan himself admitted that also had a offshore company.
She said accountability does not seem a priority for Imran Khan as he is trying to get political mileage from this issue.
She asked the political parties to themselves set some good examples instead of opting for one person specific campaign in the name of accountability. "Why they are not naming other people mentioned in Panama papers."
Asma Jehangir also raised another point stating that when anybody will directly move the Supreme Court, it will ask them to approach the proper forum and at that time these people will also raise finger on the court.
