Second phase of Pakistan India Kartarpur talks ends with India coming up with a new proposal

ISLAMABAD - The second level of technical talks on the Kartarpur corridor was held on Tuesday at Dera Baba Nanak border's zero point.

Engineers and other officials were present in the meeting. India has offered to make a flyover from Darshni Sthal (from were one can see the gurudwara on the Indian side) up to the zero point were the country's and Pakistan's corridors meet.

The country had proposed Tuesday's meeting to address outstanding technical issues. Currently, the project is being implemented on the ground.

The first meeting was held on March 19. During the meeting, that included engineers and surveyors, the site was surveyed and alignment of the corridor was discussed.

In March, India postponed the second round of talks between officials on Kartarpur after New Delhi raised concerns over the presence of Khalistanis in a Pakistani committee that will oversee the implementation of the corridor.

The first India-Pakistan officials' meet was held on March 14. The nation then, proposed that the corridor should be open to Indian citizens and diaspora with 5,000 people being allowed each day.
