Crackdown to continue against terrorists till complete eradication of menace: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured the federal cabinet and the nation that the government's crackdown against terrorists will continue and the menace of terrorism will soon be eliminated.              

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said this during media briefing regarding cabinet meeting held in Islamabad today with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair.

The Minister said the government is fast moving on implementation of National Action Plan, and it is not far when terrorism will be eradicated from the country.

He said external factors are involved in the terrorist incidents in the country, and the government is close to completely destroy that infrastructure.                          

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the cabinet decided to further discuss Asset Declaration Scheme, and a meeting to this effect has been convened by the Prime Minister tomorrow.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain informed the media that Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch landmark Housing Scheme tomorrow.  

He said under the first phase, 135,000 apartments will be constructed.

The Information Minister said it has been decided that recruitments in government departments from scale one to five will henceforth be made through balloting.    

He said working of Federal Public Service Commission will be improved and the Establishment Division has been given the task to revamp the testing service companies.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Pakistan Steels Mills will be revamped, and six companies have showed interest in the plan.

He said for the time being, the PSM will be run on public private partnership mode.

The Minister said the capacity of the office of Auditor General of Pakistan will be enhanced, and Advisor on Institutional Reforms and Austerity Dr. Ishrat Husain has been given the task to present recommendations for it in two months.

The Minister said Lok Virsa has been assigned to establish cultural and media centers at Kartarpur.

About the ongoing accountability process, the Minister said it will continue and law will take its course.

He said the current crisis-like economic condition has been caused by the corruption of the last two governments.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said  the cabinet has also approved to amend the Pakistan Penal Code for the extradition of Pakistani citizens living abroad, especially in European countries, and wanted in Pakistan.

He said it is an effort to bring back people like Altaf Hussain, Ishaq Dar, Hussain Nawaz, and Hassan Nawaz.
