Judge, wife sentenced to one year prison over Tayyaba torture case
ISLAMABAD - Islamabad High Court has announced its judgment in Tayyaba torture case and awarded one year imprisonment to former Additional Session Judge Khurram Khan and his spouse each. The two have also been fined fifty thousand rupees each.
Tayyaba, a 10-year-old domestic helper, was tortured by the employers on December 29, 2016.
An inquiry report by the police had found that the judge's wife was responsible for torturing the child maid, and her husband Khurram was responsible for indirect criminal negligence.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had taken a suo motu notice of the compromise agreement with the parents of the victim and ordered the high court to conduct a trial of the case.
