IHC issues notice to Farooq Sattar in contempt of court plea

ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday issued a notice to MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar in a plea seeking contempt of court proceeding against him.
Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC heard the case filed by Kanwar Naveed against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) chief.

Barrister Farogh Naseem, counsel for the petitioner, contended that Farooq Sattar had committed contempt of court by submitting an application with the Senate Secretariat for changing parliamentary leader of the party. The court had earlier ordered to maintain the status quo but Sattar had violated the court orders, he argued.

Farooq Sattar did not attend the court proceeding.
Issuing notice to the MQM-P leader, the court adjourned the case till Tuesday. APP/AFP
