Islamabad: Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali, and Mohammad Hafeez have failed to convince the nation’s Prime Minister Imran Khan to resume departmental cricket in the country.
PM Khan seemed not in favor of departmental cricket and emphasized Australia’s cricket structure consists of six association teams only.
“I tried to explain Misbah and others when there is competitiveness, best players emerge from that system. Australia is the most successful team in the world cricket and produces the best cricketers just because of the system,” PM Khan said while talking in a broadcast deal ceremony between PCB and PTV.
“It was difficult to explain to them and there are glitches in every new system. I am confident that this system will polish Pakistan’s raw talent,” he added.
It must be noted that PCB was under immense criticism for dissolving departmental cricket as it was dissolved on the special directives of PM Khan last year. Former cricketers also support the resumption of departmental cricket.
