PM Imran Khan sets a new precedence in the history of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Imran Khan sets a new precedence in the history of Pakistan.

PM Imran Khan US visit will be the cheapest ever visit of the head of the state to the United States.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to take a commercial flight instead of a chartered plane to the United States for his official visit.

Sources from the foreign ministry have confirmed that the premier will use a private airline to fly to New York for his state visit. The visit is expected to cost $162,000 to the national exchequer.

This would be the cheapest ever state visit of a Prime Minister in Pakistan’s history.

PM Imran Khan set an example during his last three-day visit in July which cost only $67,180. His next trip, which starts on September 20 and lasts for over a week, will cost $162,000.

While PM Khan is saving every penny he can to reduce the pressure on the national exchequer, here is what our former rulers have spent on their official visits.

As per official stats, former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari’s six-day official visit to the US in 2009 had cost $752,688 to the national exchequer.

Similarly, the ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spent $549,853 on his six-day trip to the USA.
