WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has declared a disaster in North Carolina where a powerful storm Florence has killed eleven people.

Florence's top sustained winds have weakened to eighty kilometer an hour but it is projected to bring further catastrophic flash flooding.

Weather forecasters have warned of the risk of life-threatening flash flooding in parts of North and South Carolina and Virginia due to the storm.

Nearly a million householders have no electricity in the Carolina.
