A spokesperson for Punjab Prisons has refuted claims of any meetings between international representatives and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in Adiala jail. This denial follows PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's earlier assertion that representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Union regularly visit Imran Khan in the detention facility.
According to the Punjab Prisons' spokesperson, there is no evidence to support the claim that Imran Khan met with representatives of the IMF and the European Union in Adiala jail. The spokesperson dismissed Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi's statement as baseless, factually incorrect, and contradictory.
Emphasizing the lack of credibility in Elahi's claim, the spokesperson firmly denied the occurrence of any meeting in Adiala jail involving international representatives. This denial was reinforced by stating that such an event not only did not take place but is also deemed impossible.
The spokesperson highlighted the physical separation of Imran Khan and Pervaiz Elahi within Adiala jail, clarifying that both are held in distinct locations with a distance exceeding 500 meters between their respective barracks. Contrary to Parvez Elahi's assertion, the spokesperson affirmed that even Pervaiz Elahi has never had a meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala jail.
In terms of access, the spokesperson asserted that only family members and lawyers have been granted permission to meet with the PTI chairman, and no other meetings with external parties, including international representatives, have occurred. To ensure transparency, the spokesperson noted that a detailed record of meetings with family and lawyers is consistently maintained.
