Sharif family gives important statement over former PM Nawaz Sharif ECL case in the LHC

LAHORE - Sharif family gives important statement over former PM Nawaz Sharif ECL case in the Lahore High Court.

The Sharif family on Saturday submitted a written undertaking in the Lahore High Court, ensuring that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will return back to the country after receiving treatment.

The two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, comprising Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem is hearing the plea filed by PML-N seeking unconditional removal of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).

A handwritten affidavit was submitted by the lawyers of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif in the court.

“The former premier will return back to the country, as soon he gets well”, the affidavit reads.

“Sharif will also face the cases registered against him.”

Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) asked the lawyers of the Sharif family to submit a written undertaking ensuring the return of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will return back to the country after treatment.

The bench in its remarked said that we want a peaceful solution to the matter. The court asked, can the condition be placed for removal of someone’s name from the ECL?

To this, the Additional Attorney General said Nawaz Sharif is allowed to travel abroad the treatment. “If the court was satisfied, the government has no objection”, he replied.

Shehbaz Sharif said he is assuring the court that his brother will return back to the country, as soon as he gets well.

The lawyers of the Sharif family informed the court that Shehbaz Sharif is ready to give a written undertaking assuring Nawaz’s return.
