Lashkar e Islam assassinate 5 Members of FATA peace committee

PESHAWAR (APP): Five members of a local peace committee belonging to Zakhakhel tribe were assassinated by unknown miscreants in Tirah valley of Khyber Agency, political authorities confirmed.

The five members of the peace committee were on their way back from Tirah valley when they were ambushed by miscreants in Sowkh area of Tirah valley, killing all the five on the spot and one injured.
The banned outfit Lashkar-e-Islam of Mangal Bagh accepted the responsibility for the killing of the peace committee members.

It is to mention here that the peace committees have been formed in the sensitive areas of FATA by the local authorities comprising local volunteers with a main task to keep an eye on the activities of suspected elements in their respective areas and informed the security forces accordingly.
Several peace committees' members have been subjected to similar targeted operations by militants in parts of tribal areas in the pasts.
