NEW DELHI: Indian has banned the organisation run by leading Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik.

Indian Police ban entry of Dr. Zakir Naik into Mangaluru city

The Indian government on Tuesday decided to declare an NGO promoted by Islamic preacher Zakir Naik as an outlawed organisation for five years, Indian media reports say.

According to Indian media, the decision to declare Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) as an ‘unlawful association’ was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet presided over by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the organisation’s ‘alleged terror activities’.

The Indian Home Ministry claimed that Zakir Naik’s NGO was propagating terrorism.
