Police station attacked in Occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD - Militants attacked police station in Pulwama's Rajpora on Tuesday. However, the grenade exploded outside the station.

Militants also fired upon a police vehicle, killing Bilal Ahmad, a Special Police Officer (SPO) at Pazalpora Arwani area of Bijbehara town in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Police said militants in the afternoon opened indiscriminate fire at their vehicle at Pazalpora area of Bejbhera in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. In the incident, two cops were injured. They were evacuated to the hospital where one of them succumbed to his wounds.

“J&K police pay rich tribute to martyr Bilal Ahmad,” said Kashmir Zone Police.

Indian Security forces then launched a search operation in forest area of Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir following a brief exchange of firing with militants.

A brief exchange of firing took place between security forces and militants in Tral forests this morning, a police official said.

He said the security forces launched a search operation as the ultras fled in thick vegetation of the forest.

Further details of the operation are awaited, the official said.

The attack also came on the day when Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of separatists called for hartal and Lal Chowk March on Saturday to protest the PM’s visit on May 15.

JRL is a conglomerate of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and J&K Liberation Front chief Mohammad Yasin Malik
