Opposition agrees to form parliamentary committee over Panama issue

ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties have agreed to form a parliamentary committee to finalize joint Terms of Reference for inquiry commission in order to probe into revelations of Panama leaks.


As per details, united opposition meeting was continued under the chairmanship of Khurshid Shah at his chamber but during the meeting Shah Mahmood and Khurshid Shah were called by Speaker NA in his chamber.


Both leaders held meeting with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and exchanged views to resolve the Panama leaks issue. Both leaders were asked by Speaker to provide names of members for parliamentary committee members during the meeting while they assured Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to provide names after consultation with representatives of other opposition parties. After this major breakthrough, united opposition also decided to end boycott of National Assembly session.


Opposition parties representatives said that they are ready to become the part of parliamentary committee for the finalization of joint Terms of References but PM Nawaz would have to respond questions formulated by opposition.


Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that opposition would explain its point of view tomorrow in NA session over the speech of PM Nawaz while opposition was fully aware about the importance of parliament.
