ISLAMABAD: (APP) Large cache of smuggled weapons, ammunition seized on KPK-Punjab borders

 

Islamabad Tarnol Police Saturday foiled a bid of smuggling a large cache of weapons and ammunition from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab province.

 

The police recovered 63 pistols of different bores, 18 Repeater guns, two SMG guns, four Rifles M-4, one MP-5 gun and thousands of bullets during search of a vehicle near Motorway Toll Plaza and also arrested two accused.

 

According to details, on a tip off, Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar, Bilal Zafar Sheikh constituted a team headed by ASP Omar Khan to foil bid of weapon smuggling .

 

During special checking, the team stopped a Suzuki Cultus registration No: LZU-342 near Motorway Toll Plaza in which two persons later identified as Nadeem Ullah and Kamran Haider resident of Peshawar were boarded.

 

The accused were reportedly smuggling the large cache of weapons from KPK to Punjab.

 

The Tarnol Police have registered case against the accused and further investigation was underway.

 

The senior officers had announced awards and appreciation letters for the members of the above police team for showing good performance.
