New convoy of food aid enters Syria's rebel Ghouta: ICRC

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says a new convoy carrying desperately needed food aid entered the rebel enclave of Eastern Ghouta near Syria's capital today (Thursday).

The ICRC's Communication Coordinator, Pawel Krzysiek said in Beirut that the convoy is heading towards Douma, which is the largest rebel-controlled town in Ghouta.

He said the convoy, which is the third delivery of aid to reach Douma within ten days, is comprised of twenty-five trucks and is carrying food parcels and flour bags for more than twenty six thousand people. APP/AFP
