Afghanistan confirms killing of Mullah Fazlullah in Kunar

KABUL: Banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Chief Mullah Fazlullah has been killed in a US drone attack in Kunar province of Afghanistan.
Spokesman for Afghan Ministry of Defence Mohammad Radmanish and a U.S. official have confirmed that Mullah Fazlullah was killed in the strike carried out on Wednesday. They said four commanders of the terrorist group were also killed in the attack.
According to the reports the banned TTP chief was leaving a militant center, known as Pachai Markaz, just before midnight after attending a dinner party along with several key commanders. Sources say that as soon as Fazlullah boarded the vehicle, missiles fired from an unmanned American aircraft hit them.
Hour's later fellow militants quietly buried them in a nearby graveyard.
The dreaded terrorists had fled to Afghanistan during Swat operation by Pakistan Army.
While living in Afghanistan, he had planned a number of attacks inside Pakistan, including Army Public School Peshawar, Bacha Khan Universirty Mardan and Malala Yusufzai.
Pakistan has been demanding the US and Afghanistan since long to take action against Mullah Fazlullah but Kabul always denied his presence on Afghan soil.
Meanwhile, Experts and analysts have hoped that the killing of dreaded banned terrorist Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Chief Mullah Fazlullah will improve Pak-Afghan ties and promote peace.
Senator Abdul Qayyum while speaking to News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan said it is a very important development as Mullah Fazlullah was involved in heinous crimes in Pakistan including attack on Malala Yousafzai and Army Public School.
His hands were stained with the blood of innocents.
He was a pivotal person for Tehreek-e-Taliban. He said his killing will increase safety in our country. Senator Abdul Qayyum said Afghanistan should launch operations to flush out terrorists from areas bordering with Pakistan.
He said Pakistan is committed to never use its soil against any other country and Afghanistan should also do the same.
Renowned analyst Dr. Pervaiz Iqbal Cheema said Pakistan had been trying to convince both Afghan and US officials that Fazlullah was a big threat to peace and stability in Afghanistan. It is a good omen for Islamabad that he has been killed in a US attack.
He said a big hurdle for good relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan was the activities of Fazlullah. With his removal, the bilateral ties will improve.
Veteran journalist and an expert on Afghan affairs Rahimullah Yousafzai said the chief of banned outfit planned and operated from Afghanistan to commit atrocities in Pakistan. With his killing, such activities will decline. This will also help increase cooperation between Pakistan and US and also improve ties with the Afghanistan.
Defense analyst retired Air vice Marshal Ikramullah Bhatti said this is a good development in anti-terror efforts. Pakistan has time and again informed the US and Afghan governments that Fazlullah is enjoying the safe refuge in Afghanistan and he must be dug out from his place.
He said it also gives a message of goodwill from Afghan and the US government to Pakistan as they have eliminated a big threat for Islamabad. It will improve the trust deficit between these countries.
