Govt to return about Rs5bn to Hajj pilgrims: DG Hajj

Director General Hajj Dr Sajid Yousafani says about five billion rupees saved in hajj expenses will be refunded to Pakistani pilgrims under government scheme.

He said this during an exclusive interview with Special Correspondent Muhammad Akram Khan in Madina-tul-Munawwara.

The Director General said that the government saved this amount due to excellent and timely arrangements of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

He said 22,000 to 66,000 rupees are being refunded to intending pilgrims individually.

DG Hajj said about 35,000 intending pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia out of which 30,000 arrived in Madina, while the rest landed in Makkah.

He said staff of Pakistan Hajj Mission is available to guide and facilitate intending pilgrims round the clock.

He said two central hospitals have been established, one each in Makkah and Madina to cater to the health problems of the Pakistani Hujjaj.

Additionally, two dispensaries in Madina have been setup to provide primary healthcare to sick pilgrims.

Regarding accommodation and food, Dr Sajid Yousafani said meal of Pakistani taste is being provided to intending pilgrims three times a day.

He said efforts are being made to provide accommodation to maximum number of Hujjaj very close to Masjid-e-Nabawai.

He expressed the confidence that over one hundred thousand pilgrims will be accommodated near the Haram in Madina.
