US, N. Korea to hold talks this week after nuclear impasse

The United States and North Korea plan to hold high-level talks in Washington this week to discuss the second summit of their leaders after a prolonged stalemate in nuclear talks.

The meeting, led by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and senior North Korean Official Kim Yong-chol, will take place either on Thursday or Friday.

The two sides are expected to finalize the date and location of a second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who first met in Singapore in June last year.
