In a positive development, Pakistan witnessed reduction in Coronavirus spread

The COVID-19 spread in Pakistan seems to be slowing down as the country has reported less than 1,000 coronavirus cases for the second day in a row.

According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) data, the country reported 837 infections on February 14 and 958 cases on February 15.

This is the first time since October that Pakistan has reported less than 1,000 coronavirus cases. The overall national caseload has surged to 564,824 cases and 12,380 deaths. ------------------------------

Here is the province-wise breakdown of cases reported so far:

- Sindh: 254,016 - Punjab: 164,696 - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 69,885 - Islamabad: 42,808 - Balochistan: 18,946 - AJK: 9,532 - Gilgit-Baltistan: 4,941

Moreover, 5,051 people have so far lost their lives to the pandemic in Punjab, 4,219 in Sindh, 1,995 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 199 in Balochistan, 486 in Islamabad, 281 in Azad Kashmir, and 102 in Gilgit Baltistan. ------------------------------

A total of 31,905 tests were performed in the last 24 hours, which showed that the positivity rate was 3 percent.

Pakistan has already launched a vaccination program for frontline health workers at the beginning of this month. Now, the registration of people aged 65 years or above has been started. The vaccination of elderly citizens will start next month.
