PML-N financial wizards responsible for worst economic crisis: Fawad

ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain asked the financial wizards of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) not to comment on the country's economy which their last government had left in dire straits.

Former finance ministers Ishaq Dar and Miftah Ismail, and Senator Musadik Malik should not speak for years on the economic matters as they were responsible for the worsening economic conditions, he said while talking to a private channel.
The PML-N leaders had no justification to criticize the initiatives taken by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for the restoration of economy as they themselves were responsible for its worst condition, the minister said.

Fawad said in order to avoid tough conditions of the International Monetary Fund for bailout package, the PTI government had approached friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and others for seeking financial assistance.
Finance Minister Asad Umar, he said, had finalized the package, which would hopefully help stabilize the economy.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and the PML-N remained in government for a decade and due to their weak policies coupled corruption, the country was facing the worst crisis.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari and ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, he said, learnt corruption tactics from each other. Zardari not only established banks for corruption money, but also motivated the Sharif family to make money through corrupt practices, he added.
To a question, the minister said former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif had transferred the looted national wealth abroad.

He said the people had given the mandate to the PTI to eliminate corruption and that was why "we will not let the looters and plunderers to go scot free with the looted people's hard earned money".
The minister said plea bargain might be an option to get money back from the corrupt elements.
As regards media, he said Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif did not bother to care about the news regarding their corruption, but Prime Minister Imran Khan attached great importance to the sector.

To another question, he said the prime minister had not taken any decision regrading any reshuffle in cabinet. He, however, added that if any cabinet member did not perform well, then the prime minister might think about his removal.
He said the decision about extension in the mandate of military courts would be taken on priority. There was still need to root out some remnants of terrorist elements and their facilitators, he added.

He said the neighbouring country was behind subversive activities, such as attacks on the Hazara community. The prime minister and the entire nation stood with the Hazara community, he added.
