Media channels can only contact these men now for their opinion on current affairs.
The clearance has been given to seven former lieutenant generals, including Moinuddin Haider, Amjad Shoaib, Khalid Maqbool, Naeem Khalid Lohdi, Asif Yaseen Malik, Raza Ahmed, and Ashraf Saleem.
Others include Maj Gen (retd) Ejaz Awan, Maj Gen (retd) Ghulam Mustafa, Brig (retd) Saad Rasool, Brig (retd) Farooq Hameed, Brig (retd) Ghazanfar Ali, Brig (retd) Aslam Ghumman, Brig (retd) Nadir Mir, Brig (retd) Asadullah, Brig (retd) Asif Haroon, Brig (retd) Harris Nawaz, Brig (retd)Said Nazir, Brig (retd) Simson Simon Sharof, Adml (retd) Ahmed Tasnim, AM (retd) Shahid Latif, AM (retd) Ikram Bhatti, AM (retd) Masood Akhtar, AM (retd) Riazudin Sheikh, AVM (retd) Shahzad Ch and Air Cdre (retd) Sajjad Haider.
“Their views/comments/opinions on media shall remain personal/independent expression and not attributable to the institution,” read the notification.
The former Army men have been granted NOC to appear on television till December 31, 2019.
On April 4, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority requested television channels to seek “prior clearance from ISPR” before inviting retired military officers as defence analysts in news and current affairs programmes.
