Three ATC cases against Khadim Hussain Rizvi dropped

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) abandoned three different cases on Monday against Khadim Hussain Rizvi and others for their involvement in different cases of violence during the Faizabad sit-in last year.

During the hearing, ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand stopped the court proceedings against the leaders of the religious party after a prosecution filed a filed.

In the request submitted in the case, the prosecutor stated that the police are investigating cases and adding that the police will file a new charge-sheet after the completion of the investigation process.

Therefore the prosecutor requested the court to stop the proceedings till the new challan is filed.

The court approved the prosecution’s petition and postponed the case indefinitely.

Earlier this month, religious party leader Khadim Hussaim Rizvi was declared a proclaimed offender as he and other party leaders are absconding in around two dozen cases registered against them.

Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s religious party protested against the government at Faizabad Interchange of Islamabad for around three weeks in November last year, bringing the capital to a standstill.

The sit-in was called off after an agreement with the government.
