Indian cricket team has paid a tribute to former skipper of arch rival Pakistan’s national squad Shahid Afridi after his retirement.
The Indian squad signed national jersey of their former Test skipper, Virat Kohli
as a tribute to the Pakistani player with writing “Always a pleasure playing against you!!” beneath the signatures.
Afridi who recently joined Karachi Kings of Pakistan Super League as its president had announced his retirement in February this year.
Shahid Afridi has led Pakistan eleven in T20Is, ODIs and Tests during his career.
Pakistan and India have been arch rivals in sports as well given the history between the two neighbouring states. The two teams clashed several times in the cricket history in series as well as tournaments matches, always to packed stadiums and television sets erected in streets on both the sides.
However, after India refused to play Pakistan in a recent denial, Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Shehryar Khan announced to move to International Cricket Council against Board of Control for Cricket in India.
