The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has scheduled a high-level meeting for the upcoming week to deliberate on the performance of the national team in the Asia Cup 2023.
Just a day prior to this, Sri Lanka secured a place in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 by successfully chasing down a target of 252 runs in a rain-affected match against Pakistan. This closely contested game provided ample excitement from both teams, ultimately resulting in Sri Lanka's victory after the final ball was bowled.
Reports indicate that PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf has convened this meeting with the primary objective of identifying the causes and weaknesses that led to Pakistan's elimination from the Asia Cup final. It is expected that significant decisions will be made during this committee session.
The meeting will be attended by key figures, including Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, Head of the Cricket Committee Misbahul Haq, Member Mohammad Hafeez, and other officials.
Additionally, discussions will encompass devising a strategy to address the shortcomings observed in the national team, as the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 is poised to commence next month in India. According to reports, the cricket board is contemplating imposing limitations on the participation of national cricketers in various leagues.
There is an expectation that players will be granted permission to compete in only one league, aside from the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
