Sheikh Rashid announces innovative measures in Pakistan Railways

ISLAMABAD - Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed says Prime Minister has sought the detail of precious land of Pakistan Railways within fifteen days.

Chairing a high level meeting at Railways Headquarters in Lahore today, he said ten thousand fresh personnel will be recruited in Railways in the first phase for which summary has been sent to the Prime Minister for approval.

He said Pakistan Railways has invited private sector for renovation and beautification of the railways stations.

Sheikh Rashid said One-Window Operation will be initiated for the freight handling to facilitate the people.

He said citizens at the age of 65 will travel on half ticket and disable people can travel free by train with one companion on half ticket.

The Minister said Pakistan Railways hospital will be privatized for the betterment of the workers.

Sheikh Rashid said slum dwellers will not be disturbed as per the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said two new trains, Rohi Express and Mohenjo-daro express will be the gift for the people of Sindh.

Sheikh Rashid said water filtration plants will be installed at railways stations for provision of clean drinking water to the passengers.
