Imran Khan asks SC to appoint heads of NAB, ECP
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan while speaking to the media in Lahore on Friday lashed out at the Election Commission of Pakistan.

“I ask ECP, are you a court of law?” he asked. “Have you ever summoned anyone over contempt of court before? I have stated in my letter that I did not commit any contempt of court.”

He said that ECP is an administrative body, not a judicial body, and hence has no right to issue him contempt of court notices.

According to him, ECP and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) are being used by the Sharif family ‘mafia’ for personal vendetta. “Whenever anyone opposes them, they use the institutions for settling scores,” he said.

ECP is the court of Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, he said. “This is not a neutral umpire,” said Imran. “They have their own people in NAB and ECP and use the institutions for revenge. ECP is a weapon in the hands of mafia to suppress the people.”

He said that the Supreme Court should appoint the heads of ECP and NAB.
