MUZAFFARGARH – A woman secured victory in PP-272 Muzaffargarh by-polls by defeating her son, who ran elections as an independent candidate against her, in a tough contest.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) fielded Zehra Batool for the provincial assembly seat where her son named Haroon Sultan Bukhari came forward to contest against her mother.

According to unofficial results of the by-polls held on Sunday, Batool bagged 24,019 votes, while Bukhari stood second with 17,072 votes.

Polling for the 11 National Assembly seats and 24 provincial assembly seats were held on Oct 14. As per unofficial results for NA seats, the PTI and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) win four seats each.
