Change of Command takes place in Punjab Police

LAHORE - Change of command has taken place in the Punjab Police immediately after the by elections 2018.
Amjad Javed Saleemi took charge as Punjab police chief on Monday.
He took charge as Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) a day after the by-polls and the federal government’s decision regarding the appointment of the police chief went in effect.
Amjad Saleemi has replaced Tahir Khan as IGP Punjab.
Last week Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on suspended the government's decision to replace Punjab police chief Tahir Khan, stating that the police chief replacement would be considered a violation of the ECP rules due to the by-polls.
On September 9, Amjad Javed Saleemi appointed the Inspector General Punjab (IGP) Police and a notification to this effect has also been issued by the Establishment Division.
