New Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court appointed by JCP: Report

*ISLAMABAD: **New Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court appointed by JCP, Media Report has revealed. *

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Thursday nominated Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh for the post of the Lahore High Court chief justice. The commission will now meet on November 21 to consider the names of judges for appointment to the Islamabad High Court.

The meeting of the commission was presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa.

The incumbent chief justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan, will retire on December 31.

Justice Sheikh’s name for the post will be notified after the endorsement of the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment.

In its next meeting, the JCP will consider the names of Advocate Ghulam Azam Qambrani from Balochistan, Fayaz Jandran from Islamabad and Bani Pervaiz from Sindh for appointment to the Islamabad High Court.

After taking oath, Justice Sheikh will serve as LHC CJ till March 18 next year.
