"BBC World News" make entry into Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - PEMRA Authority in its 148th meeting held Friday here approved grant of Landing Rights Permission to M/s Indigo Entertainment (Pvt.) Ltd. Lahore for foreign satellite TV channel “BBC World News”. The Authority also granted non-commercial satellite TV licence in specialized subject category to Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad and issued non-commercial FM Radio licence to Al-Hamd Islamic University, Quetta. An IPTV distribution service licence was also granted to Special Communication Organization (SCO) for Gilgit Baltistan (GB) region. The Authority cancelled three FM Radio Broadcast Licenses issued to M/s. Radio Hot (Pvt.) Ltd., Quetta for Nasirabad, Sibi and Chaghi on their own request,. Request of M/s Cellevision (Pvt.) Ltd. for surrendering of Mobile TV and Mobile Audio Licences was also approved. The Authority also granted approval for change in management of N-Vibe TV and FM Radio licence from M/s. Sanjh Preet (Pvt.) Ltd. Attock to M/s. GASHERBRUM (Pvt.) Ltd, Skardu.

To deliberate and review the revised annual PEMRA Budget for F.Y.2018/19 and budget estimates for F.Y 2019-20, the Authority constituted a committee to review the budget and furnish its recommendations in next meeting. The Authority meeting was chaired by the Chairman PEMRA Muhammad Saleem Baig. Other Members including Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan Chairman FBR, Maj. Gen.(R) Amir Azeem Bajwa, Chairman PTA, Shafqat Jalil, Secretary Information and Broadcasting, Major (R) Azam Suleman Khan, Secretary Interior, Ms. Nargis Nasir, Member Punjab, Ms. Shaheen Habibullah, Member KP, Sarfaraz Khan Jatoi Member Sindh, and Ashfaq Jumani, Executive Member PEMRA were also present in the meeting.
