PAT is responsible for Model Town incident : Government Minister

LAHORE: (APP) Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan calling PAT's protest programme as uncalled and unjustified on Wednesday said all legal and constitutional requirements were fulfilled in Model Town incident.
"The government immediately after the incident constituted an independent JIT which conducted a thorough probe and made public facts of the incident," he said.
Speaking to the media flanked by Punjab Government Spokesman Zaeem Hussain Qadri and Special Assistant to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool Ahmed at 90-Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam, he said, the FIR regarding Model Town incident was instituted with Faisal Town police station.
He said, despite summon, PAT leaders refused to attend the court proceedings as they knew that their workers first hurled petrol bombs upon policemen and instigated them while dozens of high police officers and officials were injured.
He said the PAT leadership had developed a habit to misguide the public about Model Town incident. "Levelling baseless allegations has become a permanent feature now a days," he said adding they put all facts before the public about the incident.
The minister dismissed Tahirul Qadri's claim that their FIR was not registered. Rana Sana made it clear that Director Minhajul Quran got himself registered the case after two days.
He said it was evident from video clips provided by the media to the court that PAT deliberately fuelled the situation. "Facts are facts and nobody can deny," Sana said.
Answering a query, the minister said, Tahirul Qadri once again wanted to create chaos through his agitational programme but he added politically-sane people would not support such elements who were against development of the country.
Like the past, he said, the masses would again reject agitational politics.
He said the PAT leadership wanted investigation of its own choice which could not be possible under the constitutional obligations.
Sana said the government was custodian of life and property of law abiding people and would not allow any anti-state activity to disturb peace.
