Zainab murder case investigation, IGP brief

LAHORE: Inspector General Police, Punjab, Capt (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan said investigation process of arrested suspects in Zainab murder case was going on speedily as inquiry teams were busy in assessing all aspects of the case.
He said murderer of innocent Zainab can't remain at large, adding police considered the case as a challenge and all available means were being employed for the investigation of this case.
He expressed these views while addressing a high level session pertaining to Zainab murder case in DPO Office Kasur. In session, JIT head RPO Multan Muhammad Idrees, RPO Sheikhupura Zulfiqar
Hameed, SSP IC3 Akbar Nasir, DIG Investigation Lahore Chaudhry Sultan, DIG Investigation Waqas Nazeer, AIG Legal Abdul Rub, DPO Kasur Zahid Nawaz Marwat, SSP Special Branch Irfan Ullah Khan and other members of JIT were also present.
The JIT head told the IGP that Zainab murder case would soon be finalized as CCTV footage and images of alleged persons were being matched with all persons of this area by DNA test.
The IGP asked the DG Punjab forensic science agency Ashraf Tahir to compile reports of DNA tests on preferential bases so that investigation process may be boosted up.
He directed that any technology or resources needed in investigation process would be fulfilled through intimation to CPO office and provision of these resources to required place should not be delayed at any cost.
He further said that investigation of cases of death of citizens during protests should be done on merit and challans of these cases should be submitted to court.
During the visit, the IGP also met with citizens of Kasur and plaintiffs of other cases and ensured them for arrest of murderer at the earliest possible time.
On this occasion, people expressed trust to investigation process based on modern ways and said that it is expected that Punjab Police would soon be able to grasp murderer of Zainab and other innocent children.
