Dual Nationality of Civil servants: SC announces landmark judgement

ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Saturday announced its verdict in the dual nationality case.
SC has directed the federal and provincial government to ask civil servants to either give up their jobs or the other nationality.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar heard the suo motu case pertaining to dual nationalities of the government officers and ordered them to make their choice.
“Failure to relinquish their other nationalities within the stipulated time should result in legal action,” the court instructed the governments.
In addition to that, the apex court had issued notices to the attorney general and the four advocate generals in this regard.
As the hearing went underway, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted a list of around 1,000 dual nationals holding government offices.
