Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana resigns from his post

LAHORE - Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana has resigned from his post on Wednesday.

While talking to media persons, Rafique Rajwana said he would return to his profession of being a lawyer after submitting his resignation from the post of Punjab governor.

He added that he made the decision after consulting with the party leadership and adding that a new government had been formed and it should appoint the new governor of the province.

Rajwana was appointed as the 36th governor of Punjab in 2015, replacing Chaudhry Sarwar. It is expected that Chaudhry Sarwar who is the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s nominee would be appointed governor of the province.
