ISLAMABAD - The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has submitted a review petition in Supreme Court against Faizabad sit-in case verdict.

The IB in its review petition prayed that the said verdict contained adverse observations against IB particularly in para 53(12) and 14 which may kindly be recalled and set a side.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday filed a review petition in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to expunge observations against it in Faizabad sit-in case judgment.

The commission submitted in its review petition that the apex court’s observations with regard to the electoral body will have an adverse impact on its performance.

“If the observations are maintained, they will have an impact in the long run,” it said.

The ECP said it acted against the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) as per law, which is evident from its record. On August 16, 2017, the TLP was served a notice to submit details of its accounts with a warning that upon failure, its registration will be revoked, it added.

The verdict’s para number four negated measures taken by the commission, it said, requesting the apex court to expunge observations against the ECP from the verdict.
