SC orders companies to submit record to NAB

LAHORE:The Supreme Court (SC) on Saturday ordered companies working under various Punjab government departments to submit record required by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Ijazul Ahsan passed the orders while hearing a suo motu notice regarding companies working under various departments of the Punjab government.
Earlier, a NAB official submitted that 21 companies had submitted their complete record whereas 35 companies had not submitted their complete record yet.
However, the chief secretary explained that the record of the companies had been given to NAB but the NAB approached the companies itself for further record.
At this, the chief justice referred to payment of high salaries to the bureaucrats working in the companies and observed that bureaucrats should receive the salary in accordance with their pay scales. The court summoned the bureaucrats posted in the companies to explain about amount received by them in excess of their regular salaries.
The directed NAB to complete the inquiry and adjourned the case. APP/AFP
