SC orders to hold mayor and deputy mayor election through secret ballot

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court ordered to hold mayor and deputy mayor elections through secret ballot in Sindh.
As per details, Supreme Court upheld the verdict of Sindh High Court here at today and ordered authorities to hold mayor and deputy mayor elections through secret balloting in Sindh.
Three member bench led by CJP Anwar Zaheer jamali said in its verdict that legislative assembly has power to amend the laws but the current amendment has been made by provincial government after issuing election schedule so it is declared null and void.
Supreme Court further ordered to uphold the verdict of Sindh HC to increase the reserved seats of women from 22% to 33%.
Court also ordered to complete legislation regarding the reserved seats of women within two weeks saying that if provincial government fail to legislate in this regard then reserved seats would be completed as per old law.
