PTI government unveils important statement over former PM Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD - The government has granted one-time four-week permission to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for his treatment.

This was announced by Law Minister Farogh Nasim, while addressing a news conference along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar in Islamabad this evening.

He said it has also been decided that PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, who had appealed for the permission, will have to submit an indemnity bond to the tune of around seven billion rupees to avail the concession.

The Minister said written orders in this regard will be issued at any time today and now it is up to Nawaz Sharif and his family to accept or reject the permission.

He said the decision has been made according to law keeping in view the element of fairness.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahzad Akbar said health issues should not be politicised and government tried its best to facilitate Nawaz Sharif on humanitarian grounds. He said the federal government has attached the condition of surety bond to assure that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan after four weeks to face cases pending against him in various courts of law.

He said it is one-time special permission to Nawaz Sharif facilitating him to go abroad for medical treatment as name of a convicted person cannot be removed from the Exit Control List (ECL)

Rejecting the impression of any deal, Shahzad Akbar said that the government has taken this decision purely on merit.

They also wished and prayed for early recover of Nawaz Sharif.
