Gwadar Port : A gateway to China-Central Asia-Russia

QUETTA (APP): Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri said Gwadar Port had become the base of US $40 billion China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects being executed in the country.

Credit goes to the vision of Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and active role of Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif for execution of mega projects in Balochistan.

He was addressing a ceremony of inauguration of Pilot Project held in connection with reaching of Chinese Trade Convoy in Gwadar and export of Chinese products from Gwadar to rest of the world.

The ceremony was held in port city of Gwadar on Sunday. It was attended by Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General. Rashid Mehmood, COAS, General. Raheel Sharif, Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security, Lt-General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, Commander Southern Command, Lt-General. Aamir Riaz, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, provincial ministers and other dignitaries.

Pakistan China Strategic Ties and CPEC

He said Pak Army played an important role in making Gwadar port functional and execution of projects pertaining to CPEC. "We appreciate Pak Army for establishing a division for security of CPEC," he said, adding CPEC would not only connect Kashghar to Gwadar but was going to become the game changer for the entire region.

He said work on construction of Trade Free Zone in Gwadar was near completion. "We already have issued SROs for custom and duty exemption in Gwadar Trade Free Zone," he added.

He said a large number of investors had been heading towards Gwadar, adding Balochistan had been enjoying support of the federal government and friend country, China, in execution of mega development projects.
