Senate seat is being sold worth crores: Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani

ISLAMABAD: Senate session was held under the chair of Raza Rabbani. Members of senate admitted that votes are sold in Senate election. Chairman Senate said senate seats is sold in crores. Senator has failed to reach any conclusion regarding the upper house election mechanism. While addressing the session, he further said that direct voting system would be ineffective because it will not be representative of all the political parties in the given province. Chairman Rabbani recommended that the voter’s name can be listed on the ballot paper and in case of a vote being sold, the ballot paper can be checked. Senators suggested that powers should be given to the Election Commission by amending the laws so that ECP can take effective action against those who sale and purchase their votes.
